About Dr. Ella Akkerman
As a board-certified neurologist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Akkerman brings over 15 years of knowledge, clinical experience, and empathy for her patients. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Virginia, laying a foundation for her expertise in neurological care. She completed her internal medicine residency at Virginia Commonwealth University before advancing her training in neurology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Further refining her specialization, Dr. Akkerman completed a fellowship in neurophysiology at Hahnemann University Hospital, Drexel University.
